Pictured in the photo in front of the local Publix at Milstead Crossing from left to right are Sherene Curtis, Assistant General Manager; Tracey French, Customer Service Team Leader; Paul Griggs, Assistant Produce Manager; and Brandon Ragan, Grocery Manager presenting the $26,550 check to Michael Franklin, Executive Director of Rockdale Emergency Relief (RER). Mr. Franklin said he was stunned by the amount of the check but not surprised with the kindness and generosity of residents and Publix associates in Rockdale County that made this possible.
Rockdale Emergency Relief just celebrated their 50th Anniversary of serving residents of Rockdale County. RER provides a free Food Bank, the Children’s Summer Lunch Program and Emergency Financial Assistance Program for families/households in crisis helping to avert the risk of homelessness. Each year RER serves over 7,000 individuals through their food bank and distributes over 168,000 pounds of food with no charge to the families or households. By providing folks with food in their time of need, not only does this feed their families, it often allows them to redistribute resources to keep them in their home. Publix Super Markets donation goes beyond ensuring everyone has food to eat; it holds families together and in their home.
