6/6 Wrap-Up –

(This is a multi-part series, so you’ll want to read the articles in order). As you’ve probably heard, the Braves are heading to the postseason for the first time since 2013, and on Tuesday night, they clinched their first series win in 10 years by walloping the Marlins. If there were any lingering questions about the Braves, their performance against Miami dispelled them. The Braves are playing like a different team, and one that is primed for postseason success. The 2018 Braves are a very different team from the one that struggled last season.

The 6-6 Atlanta BeltLine Partnership was developed to engage the BeltLine community in the planning and implementation of the recently launched multi-use trail network. The Partnership brings together representatives of more than twenty organizations and has been instrumental in shaping the BeltLine’s future. As the BeltLine continues to grow, so do the needs of the BeltLine community. With an increasing number of events, festivals and activities planned, the Partnership will be the go-to organization for all BeltLine needs.

The number 6 has been getting a lot of attention lately, which is no surprise. The 6/6s six day long series of concerts at the World of Coca-Cola are ending, and the Olympics and Paralympics will be a little more than a week away. It’s time to wrap up the blog series and look at some of the top stories from the last six months.

This year, LA Pride offers a new calendar of events for PRIDE month that is not only about celebrating, but also about volunteering and community service. Each event is themed Thrive with Pride, which focuses on health and wellness in the aftermath of the pandemic, and how thriving means reaching out to underserved or neglected members of the LGBTQ+ community – shining a light on social injustice and working to make a difference so that everyone not only survives, but thrives! JUNE 10 – Thrive with Pride Concert presented by TikTok word-image-2404 Charli XCX hosts LA Pride 2021 on Thursday night, June 10, with a free Thrive with Pride concert opening exclusively on TikTok from the beautiful Los Angeles location. Over the past year, Charly has been working on new tracks to share and collaborate with his fans on Zoom. Her new album How I’m Feeling Now received rave reviews and singles in her signature hyper-pop style have been viewed over a million times online. 11. JUNE – LGBTQ+ Pride Night at Dodger Stadium FROM 7:10 TO 10:00 P.M. PSST. The Los Angeles Dodgers and LA Pride invite you to the eighth annual LGBTQ+ Pride Night at Dodger Stadium. The 7:10 p.m. game against Texas Range will be a special night dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community, with special drinks at the Pavilion bars, celebrations for important faces in the Los Angeles LGBTQ+ community and additional surprise guests during pre-game ceremonies. There will also be a fireworks show on Friday night with a special mix by DJ Bowie Jane. Ticket buyers for the special event will also receive a Dodgers Pride t-shirt with the LA Pride logo on the back. JUNE (all month) – Pride makes a difference Partnership with Christopher Street West (CSW) and Big Sunday. word-image-963 This 30-day calendar of events focuses on volunteerism, community service and opportunities to donate time, goods and money to charities that benefit the LGBTQ+ community and nonprofit organizations in Los Angeles. Pride Makes a Difference will have a dedicated website with calls to action in areas such as food insecurity, homelessness, mental health and wellness, and abuse. A list of selected local organizations will be available, along with details of events, recreation group opportunities, and registration forms. CSW plans to make Pride Makes an integral part of its pride programs in the future. All LA Pride 2021 events will use the hashtag #ThrivewithPride. word-image-2405 To thrive is to flourish and move forward despite circumstances. This year’s Pride is a time to stop and take a breath, said Sharon-Franklin Brown, president of the CSW board. This is a time to remember that not only are you going through one of the hardest years in recent memory, but you are growing in your truth. If we can come together as a community, even if only for a moment, to acknowledge that we have broken down some barriers that were in our way, it will strengthen our resolve to continue to break down new barriers for those who come after us.
