So, when the Hawks traded for a player who, by all accounts, is overrated and overpaid, it made some sense. However, this plan is only working if they can utilize Nwaba effectively, because Nwaba, who is averaging 6.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game, is already a washed-up player. And while he is currently ignored by the national media, Nwaba is likely to receive more attention when he fails to show up for the Hawks, which is a real possibility.

In the Namaste Free Agents NBA article, David Nwaba of the Houston Rockets has been linked to the Miami Heat, who will have a new team in 2021. Nwaba, 28, who will become a free agent this summer, averaged 9.2 points (48.6% shot, 27.0% 3-pointers) and 3.9 rebounds in 22.6 minutes per game last season. As for his mediocre stats, Namaste pointed out the terrible luck the 6-foot-7 forward/defender has had since coming to the NBA after failing to make Cal Poly’s team: Nwaba toured constantly, playing for five teams over the course of several seasons. Unfortunately, he has had terrible weather so far: He played for the Lakers right after Kobe’s senior season, for the Bulls after the Jimmy Butler trade, for the Cavaliers after LeBron’s second start, for the Nets during Kevin Durant’s rehab year, and for the Rockets during and after James Harden’s infamous departure from his lifelong franchise.

He is strong, explosive, versatile enough to defend multiple positions and has good instincts. These athletic qualities also allow him to be a force in transition. Although Nwaba is limited offensively, he will fit in well with the Heat’s culture. When healthy, he has a tireless engine and an unselfish character, Namaste said. And while Nwaba isn’t the best defender, he would be a real asset to the second line of clubs like Memphis and Miami.

Riley won’t hesitate to rebound after such a disappointing season, especially after coming within two games of the title last year. The following players have no job security in South Beach: Victor Oladipo, Duncan Robinson, Trevor Ariza, Max Strouse, Kendrick Nunn, Andre Iguodala, Nemanja Bjelica, Gabe Vincent, Goran Dragic, Udonis Haslem and Dewane Dedmon.
