One of the founders of CD Projekt recorded a public apology for Cyberpunk 2077, admitting that the free DLC was delayed.

The biggest problem with Cyberpunk 2077, and the hardest to understand why CD Projekt released it in the state it was in, is that it will take a very, very long time to properly fix the game on consoles. Not only the game, but also the reputation of CD Projekt.

Co-founder Marcin Iwiński has released a new five-minute video in which he apologizes for problems and stress: The entire management team and I deeply regret this, and this video is my public responsibility in this regard.

In this video, he tries to make sure the mainstream developers aren’t blamed for the disaster, insisting that it was me and the board who made the final decisions and that we were the ones who decided to release the game.

Iwinski details some of the events right before the game’s launch, but manages to overlook the fact that the company intentionally avoided showing footage of the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles prior to launch.

It explains why the game has trouble running on consoles, but that’s not the point, it’s that they’re deliberately hiding poor performance from customers and deliberately releasing a game that’s barely playable on older hardware.

It seems that CD Projekt gambled that the Day Zero patch would fix enough to save time for further updates, but it was clearly a big risk and it ended up blowing up in their faces.

In the end, the only important information to come out of the video is that the special versions of the game, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, have been delayed until the second half of this year.

In the meantime, CD Projekt will continue to release a regular stream of patches for existing versions, with the next release scheduled in about 10 days (so this Saturday).

It also delays the free CSD scheduled shortly after launch, about which more information is promised in the coming months.

There has never been an explanation of what free DLC is, but it is said to be small cosmetic items and a small number of new missions, similar to those in The Witcher 3.
