The Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) Foundation has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and celebrate generosity worldwide.

The RCPS Foundation is asking Rockdale parents, individuals, organizations and businesses to help them in their goal to attract 100 new supporters who donate at least $25 to the Foundation on #GivingTuesday.

“We are optimistic about participating, for the first time, in the national #GivingTuesday campaign,” said Kysa Daniels, Foundation director. “Every cent of every dollar raised will go toward our initiatives to award classroom grants to teachers and college scholarships to students.”

Occurring this year on November 28, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities by supporting charitable organizations, like the RCPS Foundation.

“It doesn’t get any better than helping to send deserving students to college and awarding teachers with additional tools to be effective in the classroom,” Daniels said.

In 2016, the fifth year of #GivingTuesday, millions of people in nearly 100 countries came together to raise $177 million and support a variety of causes.
