Top Doctor Who Convention bringing The Sixth Doctor and his Companion together again
Camille Coduri, “Jackie Tyler” from new series, set to appear
The clock is slowly ticking down to WHOlanta 2017, as Atlanta’s Premier Doctor Who and British Culture Convention is now just weeks away. Launched in 2005 as Timegate, the convention now enters into its 12th year, landing on May 5-7 of this year at Marriott Century Center, located at 2000 Century Boulevard NE in Atlanta, Georgia.
WHOlanta 2017 features one of the biggest guest lineups in the convention’s history.
Topping the bill will be Colin Baker, the actor who portrayed the sixth incarnation of The Doctor. It will be Baker’s second appearance at the convention, with his previous appearance having been one of the biggest events in WHOlanta’s history.
Also set to come to Atlanta in May is Nicola Bryant, known best for her role as companion Peri Brown alongside Baker’s Doctor.
Joining Baker and Bryant will be a familiar race from the “New Who” era. Camille Coduri, best known for her role as Jackie Tyler opposite Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant during the first three seasons of the show’s return, will make the trip to Georgia.
WHOlanta also caters to fans of British culture and programming, including programming tracks on television programs such as Red Dwarf, Class and The Prisoner, along with literary panels, gaming panels and the ever popular “Ask a British Person,” along with a musical tribute to the late David Bowie.
Even if Doctor Who is not your cup of tea, there’s something fun going on for the entire family. Explore topics non-Who related in our Otherworld track, where the discussion can lead from Harry Potter to Game of Thrones to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. WHOlanta also features a dedicated Kids’ Track for children 6-12 years old, fan panels, autograph and photograph opportunities, and a vendors area that offers fans everything from Doctor Who merchandise and jewelry to caricatures and British foods.
