Box Office Analyst Predicts Ulterior Motive for HBO Max Snyder Cut

After more than two years of campaigning by Zack Snyder fans for the release of his first Justice League, WarnerMedia shocked the public when it became clear that the four-part embodiment of his story would be broadcast on HBO Max. At least one analyst remarked that this was probably prompted by Snyder’s own pacification and not by a decision motivated by financial gain. Since Snyder’s project is far from complete, rumor has it that it will cost about $70 million to redo it and create visual effects. Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore, said the company’s decision would indicate an investment in Snyder as director rather than an attempt to take financial advantage of the publication of this particular project.

Everyone sees studios as monolithic, financially motivated organizations, but when you see something like that, it tells you that more is happening, Dergarabedian told the viewer. There is an X factor to be taken into account. Do we want this guy to work somewhere else, or do we want him to stay home? If it does not make any serious or objective financial sense, then subjective motives and factors play a role. They want to be on the Zack Snyder case, just like Warners wants to be on the Christopher Nolan case. This is a long-term strategy.

In 2013, Snyder made his DC comic book debut with Man of Steel, and members of the Warner Bros. also knocked on the door to lay the foundation for their future comic universe. Watching Batman vs. Superman: The film Dawn of Justice, the first film in which the legendary heroes shared the screen together, was a great financial success, it was a critical failure, just like David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. Before the shooting of Justice League was completed, Snyder left the project because of a family drama, and Joss Wadeon, the director of The Avengers by Marvel, left the project and reloaded the wheel. The theatrical publication of the Justice League was not only a critical disappointment, but also a financial disappointment.

Many years after the release of the film, the Justice League, the actors and the sources involved in the project especially stressed that it would be financially unwise to release the film Snyder Kat and that they would rather leave this disaster behind them.

Dergarabedian noted that the investment in the completion of the project and its commercialisation not only bodes well for their confidence in Snyder’s future efforts, but also encourages the public to subscribe to HBO Max.

Maybe they have plans to make it more attractive to a wider audience, or maybe it’s about having the best peer-reviewed project, regardless of financial performance, said Dergarabedien in detail. This is much more specific than the development of the cross-over audience in Marvel. What it really shows is a long-term commitment, patience and dedication to the filmmaker to create something great.

Moreover, this step seems to show the fans working on the release of the project that the studio saw and understood their wishes and was happy to carry them out.

Stay tuned for more details on Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which will debut next year.
