San Bernardino Closing In On 4K Total COVID-19 Deaths, Ventura Nearing 1K –

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – San Bernardino County recorded 4,000 COVIDA-19 deaths Monday, while Ventura County came close to 1,000. Los Angeles County had already exceeded 23,000 coronavirus deaths.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reported 378 new confirmed cases of COPID-19 and seven additional deaths, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 1,218,583 and 23,084 deaths. Health officials said the low numbers may be due to delays in coverage during weekends and holidays.

Of the new deaths, four were over the age of 80, one was between 50 and 64, one was between 30 and 49 and one was between 18 and 29.

655 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, 27% of whom were treated in intensive care – a sharp drop from Friday.

Nearly 3,800,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to people, according to the Los Angeles County Health Department. Of those vaccinated, 1,232,348 received a second dose and 67,016 received the single Johnson & Johnson vaccine. With test results available for nearly 6,076,000 people, the district’s overall positive test result rate remained steady at 19 percent, although the daily positive test result rate was 1.4 percent. Last week, the seven-day moving average was 1.8% and the adjusted number of new cases was 3.7 per 100,000 population.

ORANGE COUNTRY

The Orange County Health Department has reported 123 new confirmed cases and one additional death, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 250,431 and the number of deaths to 4,726. Of those who contracted the virus, 242,463 have recovered.

With test results for more than 3,325,000 people, the total percentage of positive cases in the province was 7.5%. Last week, the seven-day moving average was 2.1% and the adjusted number of cases was 3.5 new cases per 100,000 population.

COASTAL CIRCLE

Health officials in Riverside County reported 232 new confirmed cases and 25 additional deaths, bringing the county’s total to 294,063 cases and 4,273 deaths. Of those who contracted the virus, 286,949 recovered.

With test results available for over 2,701,400 people, the overall positive rate was 10.9%. Last week, the seven-day moving average was 2.7% and the adjusted rate was 4.8 new cases per 100,000 population.

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY

San Bernardino County health officials reported 85 new confirmed cases and 10 additional deaths, bringing the county’s total to 290,715 cases and 3,994 deaths. Of those who contracted the virus, 285,526 recovered.

One hundred and twenty-eight coronavirus patients were hospitalized, 29 of whom were treated in intensive care – a slight increase from Friday.

With test results for more than 2,693,300 people, the total percentage of positive cases in the province was 10.8%. Last week, the seven-day moving average was 2.3% and the adjusted rate was 4 new cases per 100,000 population.

BOARD OF VENTURA

Ventura County health officials have reported 116 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and three additional deaths, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 79,588 and 972 deaths. Of those who contracted the disease, 78,287 recovered.

Thirty coronavirus patients were hospitalized, eight of whom were treated in intensive care, down from Friday.
