11h06. The media expected the conviction of rapist Harvey Weinstein to be the biggest news of the day. By the time his 23-year-old conviction was announced in a New York court, Fauci’s testimony was already public and another important announcement was in the pipeline.

12:26. The Director-General of the World Health Organisation, Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus, has officially declared COPID-19 a global pandemic.

13:54 : After San Francisco Mayor London Breed forbade meetings of more than 1000 people in the city, the Golden State Warriors decided to cancel a game scheduled for the 12th. March against the Brooklyn Nets without fans. All other Chase Center events are closed until the 21st. March has been cancelled. The NBA was already planning to move games from San Francisco and other cities where the virus spread quickly.

18:09 Paris Saint-Germain beats Borussia Dortmund 3-2 to reach the quarterfinals of the Champions League. More than 3,000 fans were given special permission to celebrate victory at PSG’s Parc des Princes stadium, despite the ban on French training camps. 18:12 Juventus defender Daniele Rugani is the first major European footballer to test positive for COVID-19. Teammates Blaise Matuidi and Paulo Dybala also received a positive diagnosis within a week after Rugani’s diagnosis.

18h44. Wednesday’s training day at TPC Sawgrass went as usual. The golfers stopped to sign autographs and take pictures with the fans. Spectators were allowed back to the Florida course for Thursday’s first round, but at the end of the day, Players and the next three events on the PGA Tour calendar were cancelled.

After Big Ten announced that it would continue its current men’s basketball tournament without fans, Big Ten Commissioner Bob Bowlsby announced at a press conference that his league’s games would be limited to 125 tickets per team. All other conferences followed within hours. At the end of the next day, all tournaments were completely cancelled.

19 h 44. The American national women’s soccer team wore their jerseys inside out as they warmed up for their game against Japan during the SheBelieve Cup. This decision was taken in protest against the statement of the American Football Federation that a player in the men’s national team has more responsibility in American football than a player in the women’s national team.

It’s 8:00 a.m. It was another game day in Oklahoma City for Nerlens Noel and his Thunder teammates as they warmed up for the game against Utah Jazz.

20 h 26. Just before the start of the game, officials Thunder coach Billy Donovan and Jazz coach Quinn Snyder called to inform them that the game was cancelled due to a positive COVID-19 test at the Rudy Gobert Jazz Center.

20 h 31. The teams were sent back to the dressing rooms, but the audience of the Chesapeake Energy Arena was not immediately informed of the cancellation. Instead, an artist of Frankie J was put on his show to take a break while they decided how to break the news.

8:39 PM When Frankie J leaves the field, the loudspeaker asks the crowd to leave the arena because the match is cancelled. He said we’re all safe. Go home in peace and good night, dear. Twenty minutes later, the NBA continued the season after the games of the 11th. Get out of here.

21 h 31. It has been announced that the NBA is suspending the season for the near future as thunder players and coaches have been allowed to leave the arena. Jazz players and members of the media had to stay for the tests. There’s one more game on the schedule: Pelicans from New Orleans to Sacramento. In the visitors dressing room, player JJ Redick told the Pelicans to cancel the game and go home as soon as possible.

22:32 Meanwhile, Vince Carter’s 22-year career in Atlanta has come to an end. His last match was the Hawks’ second straight victory over the New York Knicks. With 12.6 seconds to go in the race, Carter scored his last basket, three points from the center line.
